Susan Jean McDonald

Obituary Date: Friday, July 26, 2024

Our dear mother, Susan Jean McDonald, sadly passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 68. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom and unconditional love.

She was born in Atlanta on April 11, 1956. She loved to fish, spend time at the beach, loved hot air ballooning and was in the choir at Mossy Creek Methodist Church. Most of all, she loved her children. Family was the most important thing to her. She was an amazing woman. She was truly loved by everyone she met.

She is survived in death by her Son, Craig (Chip) Thurston McDonald II (Kiesha McDonald); Son, Cleve Lawson McDonald (Anna McDonald); Son, Chance Jordan McDonald; Grand Children, Xavier Bostinto, Cierra, Carson & McKenna McDonald; Brother, Steven Waldrip; nephews, Harrison and Taylor Waldrip; as well as a host of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vertis Lamar Waldrip; mother, Betty Jean Lawson Waldrip and her sister, Sherry Waldrip.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Rev. Ric Jacobson will officiate the service.

A poem from children to show their love.

Farewell Dear Mother

Somewhere in my heart beneath all my grief and pain,

Is a smile I still wear at the sound of your dear name.

The precious word is "MOTHER", she was my world you see,

But now my heart is breaking cause she's no longer here with me.

God chose her for his angel to watch me from above,

To guide me and advise and know that I'm still loved.

The day she had to leave me when her life on earth was through,

God had better plans for her, for this, I surely knew.

When I think of her kind heart and all those loving years,

My memories surround me and I can't hold back the tears.

She truly was my best friend, someone I could confide in,

She always had a tender touch and a warm gentle grin.

I want to thank you mother for teaching me so well,

And though the time has come that I must bid you farewell.

I'll remember all you've taught me and make you proud you'll see.

Thank you dear mother for all the love you showed me.

Although you've left this earth and now you've taken flight,

I know that you are with me each morning, noon and night
