Richard E. "Boyder" Boyd

Richard E. Boyd “Boyder” was born July 31, 1942 in Middletown, New York and passed July 28, 2024 in Winder, Georgia. He was the second of six children of the late Richard and Dorothy Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Kenneth, two sisters, Joyce Struble and Dorothy Wagner and a nephew Marty Struble.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Patty Boyd, his children Tricia Boyd and her fiance’, Tarik of Winder, GA, Lisa and Shawn Rodda of Winder, GA and Richard and wife Sheila of Clayton, North Carolina. Five grandchildren, Brooke, Chelsea, Gage, Caitlyn and Nick. Also four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by brother Herbert and wife Nichy of Sarasota, Florida, sister, Pat Robertson of Middletown, New York and brother in law Terry Wagner of Middletown and Patty’s brother Rich Terwilliger and family of Virginia.

He graduated from Goshen High School in 1961 and completed two years at Orange County Community College. Rich started out working on cars in his own ESSO Garage and went on to being a auto repairman with many dealerships, mainly “Ford”. He worked at the Ford Plant in Mahwah, New Jersey and then many dealerships in and around Middletown, New York. He moved to Florida in 1985 where he continued being employed at different dealerships. He retired as the “OPS Manager” from Car Max. After retirement he worked in his own garage at home, building many motors and repairing fifties and sixties cars for friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, August 3, 2024 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Reverend Geoff Murphy officiating with burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home.
