Marcia "Ann" Whitfield Marcus

Obituary Date: Sunday, July 21, 2024

Marcia "Ann" Whitfield Marcus "Granny Tang-Tang", age 82, formerly of Clarkesville, Georgia joined her husband in their heavenly home on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Mrs. Marcus was born on November 24, 1941 in Banks County, Georgia to the late James Bertrand Whitfield and Ladelle Crumley Whitfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Thomas E. "Tommy" Marcus; brother, James B. "Jimmy" Whitfield, Jr.; and step-granddaughter, Tracie Beck Whitlock.

Ann dedicated over 30 years of her life to Scovill Manufacturing, where she served with distinction as a QC Inspector. Her commitment to her work was matched only by the friendships she cultivated over the years. She was known for her meticulous nature and her ability to bring out the best in those around her. Ann was renowned for her amazing cooking skills, especially for her pound cakes and homemade biscuits. Ann thoroughly enjoyed cooking meals for her family as well as her church family. To her grandchildren and many in the community, she was affectionately known as "Granny Tang-Tang," a testament to her loving and nurturing spirit.

Ann shared a deep and abiding love with her late husband, Tommy, whom she cherished as the love of her life and best buddy. They solved many of the world's problems over their daily morning cup of coffee. Together, they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, from spending time together to their shared passion for deer hunting and fishing. Ann was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and her faith was evident in her daily life and her role as a prayer warrior, lifting many prayers for family and friends.

Ann's perfectionist attitude extended to her penmanship, which she used to instill in her children the value of doing things the right way. Ann will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as an amazing wife, a wonderful mother, a precious grandmother, and a steadfast friend.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Chantay and Greg Beck, of Mt. Airy; Tanoa and Kenneth Turner, of Alto; Shanda and Steve Dowdy, of Homer; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Lyn Cash, of Tiger; sisters-in-law, Jean Marcus, of Clarkesville; Kathy Marcus, of Baldwin; grandchildren, Brandon and Alethea Tolbert; Justin and Jessica Tolbert; Christina Beck; LeAnna Beck; Kenza and Weston Banwart; Kyran Turner; Kiani and Jesse Holden; Catlyn Minish; Layna Dowdy; Lindsay and Michael Underwood; Will Dowdy; Leah Dowdy; thirteen great-grandchildren; special aunt, Carolee Hulsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
