Donald J. Davis, age 91, of Dawsonville, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Born on October 23, 1932, in Hall County, he was a son of the late Kirk Hamilton and Nora “Belle” Sutton Davis. Mr. Davis served in the United States Navy for four years before becoming an airline mechanic with Capital Airlines then Delta Air Lines. He savored the outdoors and could often be found hunting or fishing. Mr. Davis was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kirk and sisters: Louise, Phoebe, and Helena.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Ruth Allen Davis of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Glen Davis (Susan) of Gainesville and Keith Davis (Angie) of Inman, South Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Regina Amato (Frank) of South Lake, Texas; grandchildren: Kendall, Drew, Luke, Jake, and Katie; and great-grandchildren, Amelia and David.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Grant-Reeves Veteran’s Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
