Shelley King Jackson, aged 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She departed peacefully during the chaplain’s prayer at her home in Dawsonville surrounded by loved ones.
Born on September 25, 1950, to Jane and Thomson King, Shelley touched the lives of those around her with her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. Despite facing the challenges of her illness, she was devoted to caring for her family and attending any and all of her grandchildren’s events.
If you’ve spent any amount of time in Dawsonville, you’ve probably had a conversation with Shelley. Whether during her Pool Room days, Walmart days, or when she planted flowers around the town, Shelley made sure to say hello and chat with all who crossed her path. Her friendly, caring spirit and gift for gab will be missed by those who knew her best.
Shelley Jackson is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband Don Jackson, and dear brother-in-law John Estes. She is survived by her loving family, including her sister Jane Estes, daughter and son-in-law Kali & Brian Dyer, grandson Brayden, son and daughter-in-law Adam & Karleigh Jackson, grandchildren Evan & Kendall, daughter and son-in-law Jordan & Jacob Lenoir, grandchildren Alleigh, Jaxon and Cade, and her dear friends who are more like family.
A celebration of Shelley’s life will be held on August 10, 2024, from 5-7 pm at the Racing Hall of Fame’s Gordon Pirkle Room. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Asher House in Shelley K. Jackson's memory at theasherhouse.com/pages/donate.s
May Shelley be remembered for the love and laughter she brought into the lives of others.
