Esteban Mantilla was born to Esteban Mantilla Sr. and Alicia Mantilla Cardenas on March 2, 1940 in La Tagua, Colombia.

To know him was to love him, he will forever be remembered as a gentle, kind, hardworking, and selfless man. Not only was he a loving husband and father, he was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back no matter who you were. He taught us what family mean't — unconditional love that is forever. If it were up to him, his home would be filled with all of his children and grandchildren. "Why have a home if you can't fill it?" he would say. He was a light in any room that he walked into filling it with laughter and love. He was and will always be the heart of our family. Until we meet again, we will hold onto the endless memories, importance of family, and unconditional love — a priceless gift that he has left us.
