Troy O'Neal Davidson

Obituary Date: Monday, July 15, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Troy O’Neal Davidson. Mr. Davidson, 73, of Alto, passed on July 15, 2024 after a long battle with ALS.

Troy will be greatly missed. He had a no-nonsense attitude that kept everyone on their toes. Whether he was telling it like it is or cracking a joke. Everyone could always count on Troy to keep things interesting. He could dish out tough love like nobody’s business, but had a heart of gold and made everyone smile. Shannon and Jordan remember the weekends starting when they heard him coming down the driveway in his truck blasting the 5 o’clock whistle on 96 Rock.

Troy had a profound love for the outdoors, enjoying farming, gardening, and the simple pleasures of nature. He instilled in his children the importance of hard work.

Later in life, Troy found faith and gave his life to Christ at Free Chapel Church. Though he was not a member of a church, he was a humbled man who prayed for others and believed deeply in the power of prayer.

Troy’s circle of friends spanned all walks of life; a testament to his fun personality. He enjoyed weekends of racing, cards, and good times. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Grace Davidson and his brother, Jeffrey Davidson. Troy was a devoted father.  He leaves behind his children: Shannon O’Neal Davidson and Jordan Davidson Temple and their spouses Kathy Davidson and Michael Temple; grandchildren Wake and Zoe Davidson. Troy shared the last 20 years of his life with his significant other, Kathy Jones, who was by his side throughout his illness.  Troy also maintained a close and supportive relationship with his ex-wife, Teena Davidson Humphrey, whom remained a devoted friend. Troy had many other family and friends that were near and dear to his heart, including his three nieces, Tonya Phillips, Krissie Butler, and Kaitlyn Walker.

In keeping with Troy’s wishes of not wanting a traditional funeral service, we’ll be celebrating his life in a way that would make him proud – with laughter and stories among friends and family. Details of the celebration of his life will be shared in the near future.
