Buford, Georgia – James Arnold Willis “Jimmy”, 86, died on July 9, 2024, at home in Buford, Georgia. He was born on June 18, 1938, in Copperhill, Tennessee. He was the son of James Dixon and Vera Gertrude (Dalton) Willis.
Jimmy graduated from Mt. Berry School for Boys in Rome, Georgia and served in the U.S. Army where he received a Good Conduct Medal. He was a tool and die maker for General Motors for more than 50 years.
Jimmy married Peggy Sue Johnson on June 12, 1961, and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. He was the proud father of and is survived by a daughter, Veronica Ann “Ronnie” (Willis) Andrada of Buford, Georgia and a son, James Brian Willis of Newnan, Georgia. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Edison Chopitea Andrada, two grandchildren Victor Jameson Andrada, granddaughter-in-law, Nubia Martinez Andrada, a granddaughter, Amber Marie (Andrada) Bhagwandin and grandson-in-law Nehru Bhagwandin and a great-grandson, Troy David Bhagwandin. He is also survived by his sister, Marsha Margaret Ann Willis of Copperhill, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ruth (Willis) Sparks of Louisiana and a brother, Joseph Edward Willis of Conyers, Georgia.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens at 3481 Hamilton Mill Road, Buford, Georgia 30519.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation can be made in memory of James Willis, to help build Veterans Village to house homeless veterans.
