Yvonnw Williamson Wilkes

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Yvonne Williamson Wilkes, age 89, of Athens, Georgia (South Jackson Community) who entered rest Monday July 8, 2024. Mrs. Wilkes was born in Jackson County, Georgia the daughter of the late Lonnie Williamson and the late Genevieve Smith Williamson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wilkes, sisters, Betty Jo Pinson and Juanita Williamson and brother, Sonny Williamson.

Mrs. Wilkes retired from the State of Georgia and was a member of the Crooked Creek Baptist Church.  Von’s greatest love was her husband, Ray.  They celebrated their 50^th wedding anniversary prior to his death in 2022. She loved animals and always kept her birdfeeders full, spending much of the day making sure the squirrels stayed out of them.  She enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Skeeter.  Von loved her family and never missed a holiday or celebratory gathering.        

Survivors include nephews, Tony Williamson (Tammy) of Athens, GA, Randy Pinson (Natalie) of Commerce, GA and nieces Rhonda Holder (Leonard) of Monroe, GA and  Robin Buchanan (David) of Athens, GA. As well as many great nephews and nieces. 

Memorial services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday July 18, 2024 at Redstone Community Church 6722 Athens Highway Jefferson, GA  30549 with Reverend Brenson Jennings officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Redstone Community Church 6722 Athens Highway Jefferson, GA 30549 or Crooked Creek Baptist Church 6202 Jefferson River Road Athens, GA 30607.
