Norma Jean Watson (née Sugden), aged 78, passed away on June 30, 2024, in Hoschton, GA. Born on March 20, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, she was a cherished wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and devoted sister.
Norma graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oak, MI, and furthered her education in interior decorating at Perimeter College in Dunwoody, GA. She dedicated a significant portion of her career to desktop publishing at Hewitt Associates, LLC.
From 1965 to 1968, Norma honorably served in the Navy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES), where she was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Her passion for music was evident, as she was an active member of the WAVES chorus during her service. Norma met her husband, Jim, while both stationed in Charleston, SC.
Beyond her military and professional life, Norma was deeply involved in music, singing with the Sweet Adelines Chorus and the Goldrush Quartet, bringing joy and entertainment to many through her beautiful voice.
Norma is survived by her son, Mike Watson and his wife, Chrissy; grandchildren, Scott, Melissa, and Mark Watson; and brothers, Norm and Ken Sugden and his wife, Sandy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jim Watson; her mother, Mabel Sugden (née Adams); her father, Norman Sugden; and her brother, Owen Sugden.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel in Buford, GA, is assisting the family during this time. In remembrance of Norma’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Disabled American Veterans or Navigate Recovery Gwinnett. Norma's life and contributions will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
