Stanford “Simon’” LuFluer Walker

Obituary Date: Friday, June 28, 2024

Stanford “Simon’” LuFluer Walker departed this life peacefully on June 28, 2024, after a courageous fight with lung cancer. Stanford was born on August 20, 1955, in Gainesville, Ga. to the late John Evans Walker and Rosa Belle Wilkins Walker. He graduated from East Hall High School in 1973 and began his career as a cook in several restaurants in Gainesville. Stanford's first jobs included Dixie Hunt Hotel and Western Sizzlin Steak House. He also worked at Longstreet Café and was employed at Bourbon Brothers restaurant until he became ill in February 2024. Stanford joined Riverbend Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his savior. He was regularly active in the church but he, most importantly, loved his job as a ‘greeter’ each Sunday morning! For all that knew Stanford, he was a very smart man, who spent most of his time studying history, watching the History Channel, and listening to podcasts on the radio! He lived a good life. In addition to his parents, Stanford was preceded in death by his siblings, Sanford Walker, Johncy Walker Davis, Joel Walker Johnson, Joan Walker, and Journia Walker. In addition, two nieces: the late Erica Tate and Cheryl Waller Akers. Stanford also leaves to cherish his memories, a sister in love, Debbie Latimer; nieces and nephews: Sandy, Roland, Anita, and Nancy Walker: Sylvia, Elmer, and Marion Akers; Susan and Nelson Geter, along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Riverbend Church at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to serving. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
