Terry Michael Tatum

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Terry Michael Tatum, age 75, of Commerce, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024. Mr. Tatum was born in Jefferson, Georgia, a son to the late Carl V. Tatum and the late Virginia Louise Buffington Tatum. Mr. Tatum was an Insurance Agent with Independent Life, working out of the Athens, Georgia area. Mr. Tatum attended the Madison Street Baptist Church in Commerce, GA and was a member of the Beacon Heights Baptist Church in Madison, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tatum was preceded in death by his brothers, Doug and Randy Tatum.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Tatum of Commerce; daughter, Shellie Sullivan and her husband Greg of Athens; son, Mike Tatum and his wife Misty of Maysville; brother, Rick Tatum and his wife Beth of Athens; three grandchildren, Amber Bennett, Dylan Whitehead and Hunter Tatum; two great grandchildren, Nicole and Lila; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Owensby and Mr. Dwayne Owensby officiating. The Burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens with Dylan Whitehead, Hunter Tatum, Brock Tatum, Tony Tatum, Eric Bennett and Tim Neisler honored as pallbearers.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
