Darlene Alice Olson Holladay

Obituary Date: Sunday, June 30, 2024

Darlene Alice Olson Holladay, 92, of Braselton, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, June 30th, 2024, with family by her side.

Darlene was born on March 20, 1932, in Pocatello, Idaho to LeRoy Francis & Alice Pearl Hedin Olson. She married Lynne Ray Holladay on February 13, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. Her career as an Executive Administrator spanned a variety of industries from Insurance to Social Services. She also hosted a radio show at one point giving home and gardening advice. For several years she worked at finding people homes. First as a Real Estate Agent and Home Appraiser, then as a sales agent for a Cemetery. She used to say, I can find my clients a home whether they are coming or going.  But her favorite career was that of a MOM! She had four children, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She loved her family fiercely and centered her whole life around them and serving in her church.

Darlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which has offered her many opportunities to lead various women’s organizations, work in youth programs and serve three (3) full time missions in her later years. She served those missions with her husband and loved the people in Ghana (Africa) from 1999 to 2000, another in Majuro (Marshall Islands) from 2004 to 2005 and the last one in Nigeria (Africa) in 2006. She was always busy with a project that may involve sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting, writing poetry, playing the piano, writing plays, singing, reading or trying something new. She loved activities with her family such as snow and water skiing, camping, swimming (or any activity in the water) and traveling.  Some favorite adventures included cross country road trips with Lynne to visit family or any road trip to see our beautiful country and getting together with her dear friends, always creating precious memories and capturing them in photos.  Some of her most prized possessions are her photo albums of memories with those she loved. When asked for her advice on how to have a happy life, it was simply “be kind”.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Susan Cote’ (Broc), Sandra Holladay and Allyson Stavron (Scott), and daughter-in-law Lisa Holladay West; Brother: Darold Olson (Carolyn) and Brother-in-Law Bruce Holladay; Grandchildren: Josh Cote’ (Kelly), Jill Preston (Cory), Shawn Holladay, Kristen Brown (Cody), Jared Peck (Katelyn), Holly Peck, Noel Mortensen (Alex) and Alex Stavron; Great Grandchildren: River, Abigail, Colin, Tessa, Toby, Taylor, Alice, Tucker, Colton, Jack, Aedan, Hudson and Eliana, and one Great-Great Grandchild, Lucas. She is preceded in death by her eternal companion Lynne Holladay, her son Doug Holladay, and her older brother Dale Olson.
