David Lester Dorsey

Obituary Date: Monday, July 1, 2024

David Lester Dorsey, age 81, of Murrayville, passed away peacefully at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Braselton, on July 1, 2024.  

David was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Linda Hooper Dorsey, brother Jimmy Dorsey, sister in law, Carol Dorsey, brother Glenn Dorsey, sister in law, Brenda Dorsey, parents Hugh and Myrtle Dorsey, sister in law, Peggy Kemp.    

Mr. Dorsey is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Dorsey, his daughters, Nicole(Mark) Thompson, Paige (Jeff) Jameson, stepdaughter, Karin (Eric) Chambers, stepson, Kevin (Stephanie) Burruss, sister, Fran (Ray) Entrekin, grandchildren, Ben and Lexie Thompson, Chloe Jameson, Reece, Rachel and Reagan Chambers and sister in law,  Stacey Kemp.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.  

David grew up in New Holland Village in Gainesville, Georgia.  He served two years in the United States Army stationed in Germany.  David retired from Jackson EMC after 48 years of dedicated service.  He was a well-respected supervisor and mentored many young people in their career.  David enjoyed spending time with his cherished grandchildren and loved to travel.  

David was a dedicated member of New Holland Baptist Church where he served on numerous committees and was active in the Friends Sunday School Class.   David was a man of deep faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He set an example for all who knew him as a Godly husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Andrew Johnson, Dr. Fatima Manzoor, Dr. Amy Kapoor, Dr. Hadia Ahmad and the ICU nursing staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lumpkin and Braselton.  

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel.  The service will be officiated by Rev. Brian Stephens and Rev. Rick Taylor and Rev. Rick Stone. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
