David Francis Southard

Mr. David Francis Southard, age 66 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at his residence.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at his church, Prince of Peace Catholic Church with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Monsignor Jaime Barona will officiate the Mass and Deacon Jack Campbell will officiate at graveside.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00a.m.

David was born August 10, 1957 to the late Charles Patrick & Lillian Zinno Southard in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is survived by his sister, Debbie (Peter) Chisholm; and brother, Ronald Brian Southard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Patrick Southard III. 

He was an accomplished commercial photographer earning his BA degree at the Art Institute of Atlanta and was awarded, landing two of his photographs in the Governor’s Mansion in Atlanta. He loved his home, and he loved Flowery Branch. He was in his element when surrounded by nature. He was an avid gardener and hiker and loved the North Georgia Mountains and Rock-n-Roll.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you get checked for Hepatitis. David was not an “at risk” person, therefore he was never checked for Hepatitis. He did not have tattoos; he never had a blood transfusion and he never did intravenous drugs. He was never in a hospital, celibate for the last twenty years and was absolutely 100% healthy until he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Liver Cancer. Only then did he learn that he had Hepatitis C. Routine bloodwork does not check for Hepatitis; you must ask specifically for a Hepatitis screening.
