Affectionately known as Aunt Shirley, Shirley Cox Marion passed away at the age of 86 in Toccoa, Georgia on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
A daughter of the late Elia and Annie Mae Nix Cox, she was born August 10, 1937 in Douglas County, Georgia. She was a homemaker. She will be remembered for her love of spending time with her family, her zest for playing Scrabble, and her devoted care of her beloved dog Sasha.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Marion; her son, Greg Marion; her brothers, Leon Cox and Henry Cox; her sisters, Carolanne Martin and Margret Smalley (Howell); and her niece, Peggy Nelson.
She leaves behind her nieces Donna Rudeseal (Dwayne) and Teresa Weaver (Michael); her nephews, Steve Martin (Rita), Wesley Smalley (Kay) and Jim Moon (Deborah) and many more loving great nieces and nephews.
Aunt Shirley touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
Funeral service will be Friday, June 28, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Josh Mayes officiating.

Her wishes were to be cremated. Cremation will follow.
