Louie Wayne Williamson, Jr.

Obituary Date: Friday, June 21, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Louie Wayne Williamson, Jr. announces his passing. A dedicated father, grandfather, and friend to many, Wayne passed peacefully in his sleep on June 21, 2024 at his residence in Dahlonega.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Alice Williamson; son Paul Williamson, mother Dianne Williamson, father LW Williamson Sr., sister Vicki Twigg, sister Julie Williamson, and nephew Scott Allred.

Born December 10, 1952, Wayne grew up in Duluth, Georgia where he graduated from Duluth High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of SPC 4. He loved his country and was proud to serve. A Vietnam veteran, Wayne demonstrated patriotism through his strong support of organizations providing services to US Vietnam War POWs, soldiers who remain MIA, and their families. He also participated in the POW/MIA Day ceremony and the annual Veteran's Day Parade, hosted by the Veteran's Affairs of Dawson County.

On June 2, 1977, Wayne married the love of his life, Alice Faye Mull and they spent 38 years working together as they built their family. He was a master specialist HVAC technician, employed for over 25 years by Service Experts. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, having his family over for cookouts, mini vacations to the beach and mountains, live music, and playing his right-handed guitar upside down as he was left-handed and learned to play while serving in Vietnam. Wayne's favorite event was Christmas when all his children, grands, and greats gathered at his home. Often, unknown guests were joining the family, however it wasn't unexpected. Wayne opened his home to whomever needed a place to call home and when asked why, he responded the same. "Nobody should be alone on Christmas."

A devoted husband, father, and papaw, Wayne provided his children and grandchildren with all the love, comfort, hospitality, and humor a family could ask for. He was a great storyteller with a natural gift for capturing complex emotions in a few lines. His sense of humor and one-liners could fill the room with laughter.

Surviving are his loving partner of five years, Sharon Zezula, daughter, Melissa Roberson and husband Wayne of Dallas, GA; daughter Angela Williamson of Dawsonville; daughter Amanda Williamson of Dahlonega; 12 grandchildren; grandson Brenton Farthing and wife Mariah of Henagar, AL, granddaughter Kate Williamson and fiance Joseph Negley of Dawsonville, granddaughter Alicia Buice of Clayton; grandson Austin Williamson of Cleveland; granddaughter Desirhae Buice of Dahlonega; grandson Eathan Williamson of Dallas, GA.; grandson Dawson Wayne Buice of Mountain City; granddaughter Chloe Thurmond of Dawsonville; granddaughter Ashlynn Williamson of Lula; grandson Zeblynn Williamson of Lula; five great-grandchildren Lincoln, Reagan, Stella, Renesamary and expected in September, Scarlett. He is also survived by his brother Tony Williamson of Duluth.

The family of Wayne Williamson would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Sharon Zezula. Thank you for giving us a few more years with him by showing unconditional love and commitment to his happiness. You helped him cope with his loneliness and loved him with all your heart. Thank you for being such an important person in his life.
