Virginia Gaddis Townley, 88, of Oakwood, entered the gates of Heaven on June 21, 2024 after several years of declining health.
Born July 12, 1935 in Dawson County to the late Oscar and Sally Mae Gaddis, she attended school in Dawson County and on September 2, 1952 married her lifelong partner, Pink Townley. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where she sang in the choir until her health began to decline. Virginia was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Junior Gilreath.
Surviving are her husband of 71 years, Pink Townley, Oakwood; son and daughter-in=-law, Chris and Anita Townley, Gainesville; sisters and brother-in-law, Ann and Sammy Horner, Dawsonville, Judy West, Cumming; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Gloria Gaddis, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 2 o’clock at Harmony Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 o’clock. Rev. Don Townley, Rev. Danny Miller, Rev. Jeff Wilkie, and Rev. Roger Townley will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
