Dorsey Masters

Dorsey Masters, age 81, of Buford, GA, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Venita Masters and his parents, Clarence and Inez Masters. He is survived by his children, Darron (Fran) Masters, Vicki (Derick) Burrell; grandchildren, Wesley (Molly) Masters, Alex (Brett) Breedlove, Dylan Appling, Grace Burrell, Emily (Brandon) Mattison; great grandchildren, Joani Masters, Mollie Mattison, Kayden Mattison, and Ezra Mattison.

Dorsey was born on April 14, 1943, and grew up in Buford, GA. He was a 1961 graduate of Buford High School. He married Venita in 1962, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Dorsey was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a strong Christian man and a proud Deacon of Harmony Baptist Church, following in the footsteps of his father who was also a Deacon of this church. He was the most incredible caretaker for Venita and all her health issues. Over his life, Dorsey proudly earned the names of Slick, Paw Paw, and Great Paw Paw. There are many stories of him racing cars, riding horses and motorcycles, and trading everything including horses for motorcycles. He enjoyed many years of car shows in Pigeon Forge with family and friends. His jobs included Georgia Shoe Factory, Lumite Plant, Lockheed Martin, and John Deere. He retired from John Deere after 30 years with the company.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 3 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Bryan Satterfield and Rev. Frankie Southerland will officiate. Interment will follow at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 4 PM – 8 PM at the funeral home.
