Patricia Whiting Nix

Little & Davenport Funeral Home announces the death of Patricia Whiting Nix.

Patricia passed away peacefully at her home on June 19, 2024, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s at age 82. Her loss leaves a huge void, however her memories leaves an example of a life well lived. Preceding her in death were her parents, John Franklin Whiting and Naomi Murphy Whiting. Also, preceding her in death is a brother John Wayne Whiting, brother-in-law Lowell Biddy and her sister-in-law Dolores Nix Biddy Rutland. Patricia was born February 1, 1942, in Hoschton, Georgia. She leaves behind her husband of 60 years Thomas Larry Nix, a son Thomas Leslie Nix and Andrew Franklin Nix and his wife Delise. Along with two grandchildren, Connor, Reid and step grandchildren Jessica and Chase, she also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Joan Whiting and her brother Billy Ray Whiting and his wife Martha. A host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Patricia was a graduate of East Hall High School, she attended Berry College in June 1960 on a student work scholarship, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, in March 1964. She was also selected to represent Berry College as Who is Who among the Colleges and Universities class of 1964. After several years in the classroom, she attended the University of Georgia where she earned her Masters Degree in elementary Education. She taught school in Wilkes County, Jackson County and retired from the Hall County School System with more than twenty-five years of teaching experience.  For several years she served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Districts Supervisors.

She was a child of God having joined Belmont Baptist Church at an early age and was an active member for over 60 years; she was active choir member, taught Sunday School, and was a faithful worker and Principal of Vacation Bible School for many years.

Patsy loved to travel with family, friends and groups. She loved to visit places far and near and absorb the grandeur and beauty of God’s Creation that she could only dream of as a child, growing up in the Belmont Community.

A special thanks to the staff of Pruitt Health Care, Hospice Unit, especially to Ms Charlie and Ms Angie for their devotion to the care of Patricia during this difficult time, Thank You.

Visitation will be at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Thursday June 20, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. She will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Prior to the service. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM and conducted by the Reverend Bill Compton, Reverend Bobby Brown and Reverend Eddie Whiting at Belmont Baptist Church on Friday June 21, 2024. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Flowers accepted, however donations are preferred to Belmont Baptist Church Building Fund at 3635 Belmont Hwy. Gainesville, Ga. 30507.
