Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Norma Annette Held, age 85, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Mrs. Held was born in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter to the late Howard and Gladys Jones Nicodemus. Mrs. Held was a member of the Crossroads Church of Jackson County and was formerly a member of the Snellville United Methodist Church for over forty years, participating in Choir and other groups. Mrs. Held was also an avid bowler winning various titles and prizes in her lifetime. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Held was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Howard Held Sr., brother, Jerry Nicodemus, son in law, Allen Drette Dougherty and grandson, Erik Allen Dougherty.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and family always came first in her life. Survivors include daughters, Norma Bean and her husband Randy of McCaysville, GA and Terry Dougherty of Jefferson, GA; son, Alan Held Jr. and his wife Mary of Pendleton, IN; grandchildren, Jason Landers, Mitzi Nguyen, Nick Jones, Amy Morton, Valerie Howell, Chelsea Held and Tiffany Lucas; fourteen great grandchildren; sister in laws, Virginia Kellman and Luba Held of Catonsville, MD and Janice Oberlander of Dallas, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip DeMore officiating. The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
The entombment will follow on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3700 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039.
