William Hoyt Pinson

Obituary Date: Thursday, June 13, 2024

William Hoyt Pinson of Gainesville, GA, was ushered into Heaven on June 13, 2024. He was 83. As she has always been, his wife, Mildred was by his side.

Hoyt retired from Yellow Freight Company as a Million Mile driver. He enjoyed an active retirement working at Royal Lakes Golf Course. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed basketball, softball, golf, and bowling. Hoyt enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren sharing those talents and gifts.

Hoyt was most passionate about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Most who have had the pleasure of meeting Hoyt can attest to the fact that he never neglected an opportunity to share the Good News of the Gospel of Christ. He spent many years serving the church families at Cavalry Baptist Church (Gainesville) and Westside Baptist Church (formerly of Gainesville). From driving the church van, to leading worship, to serving as a deacon, and Sunday School teacher, Hoyt filled the role of servant to the Lord well. His love for Christ is reflected in his love for his family and especially his dear wife of 62 years, Mildred Young Pinson.

He is survived by Mildred, his daughters and sons-in law: Beth and Jeff Elder, Nita and Casey Cagle, and LeeAnn and Chris Miles. Grandchildren include Jared Cagle (Kaylan), Grant Cagle (Meghan), and Carter Cagle (Harlee), Josh Elder (Anna), Jacob Elder, and Jonathan Elder, Nick Nixon, Natalie Long (Brandon), Nate Nixon, Andrew Miles, Aaron Miles, and Ally Miles Oliver (Leeson). Great-grandchildren include Everett, Mick, and Rory Cagle, Wimberly, Hamilton, and Thurgood Cagle, Ezra and Cruz Cagle, and Knox Oliver. Sister-in- law Janice Winters, brother -in -law Ken Young. Hoyt is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Mike Pinson, Beverly Parks, Jane Braselton, Jerry Abernathy, Phil Pinson, Rhonda Kinsey, Don Pinson, Claudette Bragg, Larry Pinson, Harold Pinson, Peggy Smith, Becky Brewer, and Lori Sweet.

Hoyt’s faithfulness and obedience are evident in the blessing of his family. We are grateful for his commitment to God and for his shining example of a husband, father, and grandfather’s love.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Cedarhurst Assisted Living facility for their love, care, and support of Hoyt. We are so thankful for each and every one of you.

Cathy and Connie, Shirley and Rachel….thank you for your love and care.
