Ruby Louise Lott Evans

Obituary Date: Saturday, June 8, 2024
Ruby Louise ( Lott ) Evans was born on March 2nd 1940 in Hall County Georgia to
the late Deacon Henry Lott and the late Agnes Maynard Lottt. She was one of 12
children. Embraced and carried by the angels into eternal rest on June 8th 2024 at
Rose Premier Personal Care Home in Gainesville GA. She was preceded in death
by 5 sisters Willie May Lott Stephens, Lois Lott Young, Shirley Lott Dodd, Sarah
Francine Lott and Betty Sue Allen Lott ,5 brothers Wilie T. Lott, Henry Lee Lott,
Nathaniel Lott, Loye Lott, and Robert Lee Lott.
After graduating from Fair Street High in 1962 She attended Cosmetology/Barber
School in New Jersey. She then moved back to Gainesville Ga where she worked
under James Wright Senior. She also worked at a barber shop in Southwest
Atlanta. She cut many notable Civil Rights Leaders hair as well as other
entertainers in the Atlanta area. She shared many exciting and entertaining
stories about that time. Louise continued cutting hair for family and friends well
into her 70’s. Cutting hair was not her only talent. She had the unique experience
of working as a graphic artist in Atlanta Ga. as well as working for a brief period at
First Presbyterian Preschool and E.E. Butler Head Start. The children loved her
stories and she truly enjoyed working with children and families. Her nickname
was Ms. Lou Lou!
Louise joined Cross Plain Baptist Church at an early age. She and her family later
joined Antioch Baptist Church in Gainesville Ga. She remained a faithful member
for many years. While attending Antioch Baptist Church, Louise served on the
Nurses Guild, Usher board and sometimes worked the children’s ministry daycare
center. Louise was very hospitable and dedicated a lot of her time and energy to
helping others and making them feel loved. There was not one person or family
member she would turn away if they needed a place to stay or food to eat. Louise
was very funny and loved a good joke. Every week her and her daughter’s would
be on the phone sharing jokes or funny stories with each other. Louise also loved
to travel on road trips. At any moment she would gather up her kids and drive to
Helen GA, South Carolina, even up North. She will truly be missed for her sense of
humor easy going spirit and speaking up for you if you didn’t have the courage to
do so. Louise loved the Lord and spoke many times about being saved and seeing
her family members again in heaven. While dealing with her brief but very serious
illness, Louise always talked with her hospice team daily. They all served an
integral part in helping my mother live comfortably and feel loved. I want to thank
Kristin, Kerry, Angela (RN), Angela (aide) ,Chaplin Ellen and Lorna Drinketts and the
Rose Premier Personal Care Home Staff for the love and care they gave my
mother until she passed away. You will forever be in our hearts.
Louise married the late Leroy Evans in 1969. She is survived by her daughter Sonya
(Danny Sr.) Hargrove, Son Villegas Moreno Woods and daughter Paula (Kevin) Neil,
brother Harold ( Pat) Lott, she has 10 grandchildren 2LT Danny (Kiannah) Hargrove
Jr, 1LT Daniel Copeland Hargrove, LaSarah Joy Hargrove, Dan Wallace Lee
Hargrove, Veijon Woods, Kilynn Woods, Dawnella Woods, Valecia Woods, Shatoria
(Marvin) Williams, and Avis (Stephanie) McCullum. She has 5 great grandchildren,
Hendrix Windsor Lee Hargrove, Sasha and Casey Kicklighter, Sabastian and Axel
McCullum. A special niece and nephew, Marilyn Ann Lipscomb and Larry
Lipscomb. A special family friend Adrian Mance; A host of nieces and nephews
and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Wimberly Funeral Home between the hours of 12:00 PM-8:00 PM on Friday, June 14, 2024.
