Mr. Graling Letroit Simpson, age 62 of Watkins Street, Toccoa passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.
A son of James Hines and Susie Simpson, he was born August 13, 1961 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. He was a 1979 graduate of Stephens County High School and attended Clark College in Atlanta. Over the years, he was employed with Kentucky Fried Chicken, Acree-Davis funeral Home and lastly with Quality Foods. He also did yard work. He was a member of Ellis Chapel CME Church in Carnesville where he served as an Usher and sang in the choir. He was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his father, James Hines of Albany, Georgia; mother, Susie Simpson of the home; wife of the home, Maudine Steeple Simpson; daughter, Kongaydra Nicely; son, Willie Gibson; five grandsons, Vashon Gibson, Vonquise Nicely Victor Nicely, Veon Nicely and Tay Jones; eight great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Kistler and Costello Simpson of Toccoa; sister, Cassandra King of Atlanta; three sisters-in-law; uncle and aunt, Dan and Philis Simpson of Toccoa and aunt, Betsy Simpson of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 13, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. at Ellis Chapel CME Church, Carnesvllle with The Reverend Alton Downer officiating. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers and flower girls. The body will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service time.
The family will be at the home of his uncle, Dan Simpson, 197 Fern Point, Apt. B102, Toccoa. The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 12, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Ellis Chapel CME Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Graling Letroit Simpson.
