Bobbie Lee Shirley, 50, of Gainesville, GA, passed away on June 6, 2024. She was born on January 7, 1974, and was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Bobbie is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Calvin Shirley. Together, they built a loving family, blessed with five children: Marisha Shirley (Nicole) of Dawsonville, GA; Taylor and husband Casey Shirley of Dawsonville, GA; Angel Shirley of Gainesville, GA; Andrew Shirley of Gainesville, GA; and Mallorie Sanford of Gainesville, GA, as well as Tylique Bridges of Gainesville, GA. Her children were truly her "Heart and Life," a phrase she often shared with them.
One of the greatest joys of her life was the anticipation of her second grandchild - a grandson, expected to be born in November 2024.
She is also survived by her father, Bobby Christy, and his loving wife, Janice of Lula, GA; her sister Teresa and husband Tim Meer of Cumming, GA; and her brother Randy and wife Diane Christy of Dahlonega, GA. Bobbie was a cherished aunt to several nieces and nephews, and a great-aunt to many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Delilah Christy, and her granddaughter, Lilliah Shirley.
Bobbie attended Lumpkin County High School and was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church, where she served and volunteered tirelessly. Her love for Jesus and her family was evident in everything she did. Known for her generosity and kind spirit, Bobbie had a special gift for caring for children, often babysitting and always willing to give the shirt off her back to those in need.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and spending quality time with her family. Bobbie's best friend and mentor, Angela Allen of Gainesville, GA, held a special place in her heart.
Bobbie's legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew her. To know her was to love her, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
A celebration of Bobbie's life will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA with Sis. Angela Allen and Pastor Austin Houston officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church in Dahlonega, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help off-set the funeral expenses.
