Orell Hezzie “O.H.” Frady, age 96, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024.
Born on December 13, 1927, in the Persimmon Community of Clayton, he was a son of the late Hezzie and Della Benfield Frady. Mr. Frady was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was a dedicated, hardworking, self-employed contractor that built numerous residential and commercial properties. O.H. loved life and his family deeply, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: J.C., Lloyd, and Lewis Frady and sisters: Omajean Calloway, Ravelene Joyner Smith, and Doris Davis.
Survivors include the loving mother of his children, Betty Frady of Mt. Airy; sons and daughter-in-law: Danny Frady of Toccoa, Ricky Frady of Mt. Airy, and Marty Frady (Wanda) of Clarkesville; daughters: Brenda Frady of Toccoa, Elaine Burton of Mt. Airy, and Karen McEntyre of Mt. Airy; grandchildren and spouses: Stephanie, Amanda, Carrie, Cheyenne (Thomas), Renée, Jason, Kyle (Sophia), Casey, Brandi (Randy), Brent, Dustin, Clay (Malorie), Dylan (Ashlyn), Clif, Chad (Angie), and Chris (Gail); 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; stepson and spouse, Kevin Frady (April); brothers and sister-in-law, Corbin “Chub” Frady of Clarkesville and Bobby Frady (Gladys) of Mt. Airy; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Chopped Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Jewell Gaines and Rev. Paul Jameson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Grant-Reeves Veteran’s Honor Guard.
He will lie in state from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Monday at the church.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
