Our beloved Faye Merida "Mookie" Damons died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 2nd in Flowery Branch, GA at the age of 65. Merida is preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Betty Jo Damons of Gainesville, GA; sisters: Faye Maraleita Damons and Joyce Ann Wright of Gainesville, GA. She leaves the following loved ones to cherish her memories, sister: Angela Damons; Brothers: Bobby and Claude Damons; Daughters:Evette Stickland Joanna and Jessica Wright; sons: Michael (Cassie) and Jeremy Wright, and Granddaughters Kamaria Walls, Shamara Wright, and Kaniya Finch, and Grandson Dontrese Wright all of Gainesville, GA and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, family, and friends to mourn her loss. Merida was born on February 24th,1959 in Commerce, GA to John Wesley and Betty Jo Damons. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1977. After moving to Gainesville,GA, Mookie began working for Gilford Mills and Beulah. Merida was passionate about working hard and providing for her loved ones and making her famous cornbread and macaroni and cheese. Her loved ones remember her as a kind and loving mother, aunt, sister, daughter, cousin and friend who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She was always there to support her family and friends in all of their accomplishments in life.
Funeral services will be held at Wimberly Funeral Home on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 between the hours of 12 PM to 8 PM. Family will receive friends between the hours of 6 PM to 8 PM at Wimberly Funeral Home Chapel.
