Jeffrey W. Stokey, Sr. age 74, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was a native of Avon Park, Florida. Jeff graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelor's degree in business management.
Jeff spent over forty years in the poultry business working for a variety of different companies over his long tenured career. He started his career with Gold Kist, followed by Country Pride, Seaboard, Cagles, and ended his career at Wayne Farms. Upon retirement, Jeff received an award from the National Poultry and Food Distributors Association for his outstanding service and contributions to the poultry industry.
Jeff was a man with a big heart and a servant's heart. In his retirement he paid it forward through his acts of service or simply paying for groceries for those just standing in line behind him. Jeff served through the Good News at Noon program, cooking food on Mondays and Meals on Wheels.
Jeff enjoyed his weekly golf games with his golfing group. He was also an avid reader and you could always find him with a book in hand. He had a love for the beach and especially the Blue Angels. His love for, “The Blues,” was passed down to his children and grandchildren alike. On family beach trips he loved taking all the grands to go watch them during practice air shows. Jeff also enjoyed taking them fishing while spending time on Perdido Key.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Batson Stokey, of 48 years. In addition he leaves behind his three children, Rebecca (Philip) Puckett, Jeffrey (Erin) Stokey, and Patrick (Lindsay) Stokey and his eleven grandchildren who fondly called him, “Pop.” He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Cornell and sister in law, Patricia (Patty) Stokey. Jeff had many dear family and friends that he considered family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Milton Stokey, Sr., as well as his brother, Milton F. Stokey, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Asbury Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to Asbury Chapel, 758 Main Street SW, Gainesville, GA 30501.
