Sy Aumphai Vilachit Phongsavanh

Sy Aumphai Vilachit Phongsavanh, age 66, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024.

Sy was born on January 10, 1958, to Chan and Sie Phon Vilachit in Laos. She and her husband immigrated to America in 1980 with their infant son. Sy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a passion for gardening, fishing, and cooking for her family.

Sy was a devoted member of the Wat Lao Buddhist Temple in Baldwin. She exhibited unconditional love, strength of spirit, and unending generosity towards her entire family and her community.

Sy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Chit Vilachit.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Bill Khamlek Phongsavanh, of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Ty Saithala Buntum and Mary Tonya Nations Phongsavanh, of Cumming; son, Rodney Loun Phongsavanh, of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Dominic Akoum, Chase Kham, Jayden Phillip, Zachary Thala, Kelsie Alexis, Leah Kate, and Marissa Addy; brother and sister-in-law, Luansack Oun and Vanh Vilachit; niece and spouse, Lian Vilachit and Greg Brown; niece, Duanh Vilachit, niece and spouse, Dao Vilachit and James Mom; nephew, Sonsay Vilachit; great-nieces, Ashley, Kiana, Arya, and Keira; great-nephew, Bryce; cousins and spouses, Amphanh and Bounleuam Xayavong, Chip Xayavong and Shannon Michael Gohier-Pichay, Jake and Sophear Theng Xayavong, Joesen Xayavong, and Alani Xayavong.

Sy will be eternally missed by all who knew her. She has forever inspired the way her family will view the world and the life we will live.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2024 at the funeral home.
