Horace E. Banks

Horace E. Banks, 93, of Buford, GA, died Saturday, May 25, 2024. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 3 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Frankie Southerland will officiate. Entombment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 1 PM – 3 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Agape Hospice, in memory of Horace.

Horace was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Dollar Banks. He is survived by his children, Vicki Garrett (Mike) of Buford, David “Hoby” Banks (Jody) of Jefferson, Keith Banks of Buford, Lisa Rolin of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Ansley Garrett, Wesley Garrett (Shelley), Kerry Banks (Nicole), Maggie Woodie (Matt), Matthew Rolin (Hannah); great grandchildren, Stephen Garrett, Savannah Garrett, Emma Woodie, Ella Woodie, Eden Woodie, Shylan Garrett, Stoney Rolin, AJ Hufnagel; brother, Joel Banks of Hoschton; sister-in-law, Linda Elinburg of Buford; several nieces and nephews.

Horace was born in Hoschton, GA and was a lifelong resident of the metro area. He retired as a supervisor with Gwinnett County License and Revenue. He was the first City Manager with the City of Sugar Hill and worked at Tapp Funeral Home for 25 years. Horace was a member of Masonic Lodge #292 F&AM for over 50 years. He was also a Charter Member of Sugar Hill United Methodist Church, a member of the Early Bird Sunday School Class, and a member of Sherwood’s Coffee Club.
