Joan E. McLaughlin

Joan E. McLaughlin, 68, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 at her residence.

Born January 13, 1956 in Atlanta to the late George and Lessie Darley, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 34 years having moved from Decatur.  Joan was formerly employed by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company as a claims adjuster after which she worked in the home healthcare field.  She possessed a strong faith, loved animals, enjoyed helping others, and was very devoted to her family and friends.  A member of County Line Baptist Church in Alpharetta, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Keith Day and sons, Justin and Joseph McLaughlin.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel P. McLaughlin, Dawsonville; children, Leslie Day Lawrenceville, Elijah McLaughlin, Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sisters and brothers in law, Andrea and Donald Peebles, Pendergrass, Renee and Bill Housworth, Eatonton; brother, Kelley Darley, Peachtree City; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Robert Chapman will officiate.  Interment will follow in Sawnee View Gardens.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 until 8 at the funeral home.
