Theresa "Terri" Lee (Wilson) Jones

Obituary Date: Thursday, May 23, 2024

Theresa "Terri" Lee (Wilson) Jones, born on October 28, 1962, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was the beloved daughter of Willis Wilson III and Charlotte M. (Smith) Wilson. The only girl and the second of three children, Terri grew up with her older brother James W. Wilson and younger brother Wesley A. Wilson. In 1967, the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where Terri spent her formative years and met the father of her children, having known him since childhood. Her first child, Curtis D. Wilson, was born in Cleveland in 1977. Shortly after his birth, the family returned to Pittsburgh, where Terri graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1980. In 1984, Terri moved back to Cleveland and welcomed her second child, Channel M. Wilson, in 1985. Soon after, she and her children returned to Pittsburgh, where she worked various clerical jobs at Mellon Bank and West Penn Hospital. In 1990, she married Phillip C. Jones. In 1994, Terri and her family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she spent over 20 years establishing roots and building friendships. She worked at Grady Memorial Hospital, the Georgia Department of Labor, Wellstar Cobb, and Tanner Hospital in Villa Rica, Georgia. Between 2010 and 2017, Terri briefly moved back to Cleveland and Pittsburgh to be close to her growing grandchildren: KaRon, born in 2000; Algeionia, born in 2001; and Kelis, born in 2006. During this period, she furthered her education by earning an associate degree in billing and coding from Sanford-Brown University. Upon returning to Georgia, Terri utilized her degree to secure employment with Centene, the parent company of Peachstate Health Plan, as a Medical Request Processor. Terri was an avid reader, amassing a large collection of books by her favorite authors, John Grisham and Mary Monroe. Her most cherished book was always the Bible. For over 25 years, she was an active member of Hunter Hill First Baptist Church, serving on the usher’s board and the women’s ministry. Terri also enjoyed crocheting, creating beautifully patterned blankets for close family and friends. She loved bowling, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandson, Dallas Josiah, born in 2023. Terri lived a life full of love and laughter. Always there for anyone in need, she generously gave of herself, believing that God would always provide. She was a surrogate mother to many of her children’s friends, known for her quiet and peaceful demeanor amidst a lively family. Kind, loving, and loyal, Terri’s light will forever be missed. Her legacy of love and faith leaves an indelible mark on all who knew her. Terri is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Jones; her father, Willis Wilson III; and her younger brother, Wesley Wilson. She leaves behind her two children, Curtis and Channel Wilson; her mother, Charlotte Wilson; stepmother, Helen Wilson; sister, Garnetta Moody; brothers, James Wilson and Willis Moody and his wife Monica; nieces Lauren, Angela and Miles Wilson, Taylor and Sydni Moody: nephews Jordan Wilson and Aaryn Grayson (affectionately called Auntie’s chocolate baby): grandchildren; KaRon, Algeionia, Kelis, Royal (affectionately called Lumpers by his grandma) Wilson, Areyuna and Artis Johnson and Armani White and her great-grandson, Dallas ( affectionately called "Nunu” by his great-grandma). Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Hunter Hill Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA at 11:00 AM. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
