Mr. Troy Clyde Sims of Flowery Branch, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 17, 2024.
He was born on July 9, 1941 in Talmo, GA and was a graduate of East Hall High School. After 33 years of service with General Motors, Mr. Sims retired and started his own furniture repair business. He worked for various moving companies and Office Pros in Gainesville.
Mr. Sims was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 73 years, where he served as trustee, deacon and Sunday school director. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and following all their activities.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents, Rhude and Ethel Penland Sims; father in law and mother in law, Harvey “Tommy” and Vera Jarrard; brother and sister in law, Felton and Shirley Sims, sister in law, Faye Sims and great nephew, Sims Vickers.
Mr. Sims is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lynda Sims of Flowery Branch; son and daughter in law, Tim and Joy Sims of Gainesville; son, Tyler Sims of Flowery Branch; daughter in law, Wendi Sims of Fair Play, SC; grandsons, Andrew and Alex Sims of Gainesville and granddaughter, Madison Sims of Flowery Branch; brothers and sisters in law, Guy and Anne Sims of Columbus, GA, Frank and Brenda Sims of Clermont; nieces and nephews, Rex Sims, Rhonda Sims Palmer and Russell Sims all of Gainesville; Jeff (Carrie) Sims of Cartersville, Chris Sims of Rome and Anne Marie (Jed) Sims of Columbus and a host of other great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Hunt and Rev. Clack Stubbs will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, Renovation Fund, 2414 Athens Hwy, Gainesville, GA 30507.
