Phonna L. DeMonteiro

Phonna L. DeMonteiro, age 89, of Decatur, GA passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father Long Chhim, mother Yen DeMonteiro, son Phonsina Chhim, wife Phnomthip DeMonteiro, grandson Jonathan man, grandson Vijirakrith Chhim, and great grandaughter Yakira Thomas.

Mr. DeMonteiro is survived by his children Phonphany Chhim, Phinavan DeMonteiro, Phanada Palmer, Phinarin Chhim, Peter DeMonteiro, Tiffany Davis; grandchildren Kenneth Man, Vannarak DeMonteiro, Victoria Chhim, Chris Man, Phinavatey Thomas; and great grandchildren: Alexi Man, Aaliyah Man, Jorani Thomas, Sirius Thomas, Zyana Thomas, Kai DeMonteiro, Isabelle DeMonteiro.

Mr. DeMonteiro was born on October 22, 1934 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. After graduating from Sisowat College, he was proud to work as the police inspector and commissioner in Phnom Penh. He met his wife when she visited from Thailand and they fell in love. Mr. DeMonteiro’s family were all survivors of the Cambodian Civil War (Killing Field).

He and his wife resided in his dream home in Sugar Hill, Georgia. He spent the past 20 years living with his daughter and son-in-law in Decatur. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving wife, children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home.
