Nancy Mahoney Fay

Obituary Date: Friday, May 10, 2024

Mrs. Nancy Mahoney Fay, age 86, of Hoschton, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Nancy was born on Wednesday, November 17, 1937 to Mr. Richard and Mrs. Edith Mahoney in Terre Haute, Indiana. Growing up in Newburg, New York, you would often find Nancy in the kitchen helping her mother cook. Making biscuits was known to be her favorite.

Always a hard worker, she started her career immediately after high school to buy her first car. Nancy moved to Decatur, Georgia shortly before her daughter Lisa was born in 1958. In the late 1970’s she was hired at CNA Insurance and eventually retired there as a Service Representative after spending over 20 years with the company.

There were several people in Nancy’s life that were most special to her. Nancy met her husband John on New Year’s Eve in 1985. They rarely spent a day apart in their 35 years of marriage together. They loved to visit with their grandchildren, raise shih-tzu puppies, cook, play games, and watch television. Nancy was sure to talk to her two closest friends every day, her daughter Lisa and her nephew Richard. They knew how to share life together and loved each other with all their hearts.

It didn’t take long after meeting Nancy to learn she loved all animals (especially dogs, cats, and birds), as well as nature and cooking. If you were lucky enough, you would have enjoyed a meal or dessert she prepared because she knew it was one of your favorites.

Nancy will be remembered as a loving wife, amazing mother and grandma, cherished aunt, and a friend to all.

Nancy is survived by her husband John Vernon Fay; daughter, Lisa Ann Lester; stepson, John Leroy Seward Fay (Cameron); Grandchildren, Camden Louise Fay, Holland Marie Fay, John Ericson Fay, Eden Catherine Fay; six loving nephews and nieces; and her fur babies Rocky and Ginger. Along with her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, John Mahoney.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a service to be held at 1:00pm in the Flower Gardens of Braselton with Pastor Chad Freeman officiating. A reception is to follow in the Braselton Room. Memorial Park Braselton Funeral Home, 5257 Green Street Hwy 53, Braselton, Georgia 30517 is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a Memorial gift to the ASPCA to honor Nancy’s memory and help ensure a better life for animals: ASPCA Memorial Gift.
