Ernest "Moss" C. Cain

Obituary Date: Monday, May 13, 2024

Ernest "Moss" C. Cain, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on August 3, 1935, in Dahlonega, Georgia, Moss was the beloved son of the late Henry Cain and Ellen Ridley Cain.

Moss was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Cain, as well as his siblings Edward Cain, TJ Cain Sr, Raymond Cain, HM Cain, and Ellen "Gail" Holbrook. He was also preceded in death by his loyal companion, his dog, "Pepper".

He is survived by his grandchildren, Michael Baker (Courtney Hindsley) and Tabitha Nichole Britt (Thomas Patrick); great-grandchildren, Reilly Nichole Britt and Patrick Sullivan Britt as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives: TJ Cain Jr (Cathy), Sue Sykes (Albert), Jim Cain (Angi), Angie Palmer (Jim), R. Gary Cain (Cheryl), Kenneth Holbrook, Rex Cain (Sabra), Staci Bailey (Robert), Paul M. Cain, and sister-in-law Francis Cain.

Moss proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. Following his honorable service, Moss dedicated 46 years of his life to Pinetree in Dahlonega, where he made enduring friendships and lasting contributions.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Moss found peace in the woods, where he often went with LD Grizzle, hunting ginseng. In his later years, Moss cherished outings with Tim Grizzle, the son of LD, particularly their visits to gun stores, going to Cleveland for lunch, reminiscing about old times and sharing stories of adventures past. He also truly enjoyed his time with long-time friend and confidant, Mrs. Penny LaFond.

We would like to acknowledge our cousin, Mrs. Glenda Sue Weaver for her unwavering support in so many aspects of our uncle Moss's care and friendship.

In accordance with his wishes, Moss will be cremated, and a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Joyce.
