Ralph "Wimpy" Smith

Mr. Ralph “Wimpy” Smith, 90, passed away on Saturday May 11, 2024 following an extended illness.

Mr. Smith was born on February 1st 1934 in New Holland to the late Thomas Lee Smith and Hattie Equila Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from Guilford Mills and was a faithful member of New Haven Congregational Holiness Church.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Christie J. Smith and his brother Randall Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by sister and brother in law Claudine and Tiny Pittman. Sister-in-law Barbara Smith and Sister-in-law Nelle Justus all of Gainesville. Also very special friends Wayne, Patty and Candis Gee. Mr. Smith is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith looked forward to attending New Haven every service and singing in the choir. He also loved going to camp meeting in Shingle Hollow North Carolina as well as Union Grove in Cleveland Georgia.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday May 18 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024 at New Haven Congregational Holiness Church. Rev. Bobby Griffin will officiate the funeral service and Rev. Terry Jones will officiate at the graveside service in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Smith will lie in state at New Haven Church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Christy Lyle and North East Georgia Hospice and Cedarhurst Senior Living. We can’t thank them enough for the love and kindness they showed to Ralph and his family.
