Bobbie Eugene Whitmire

Mr. Bobbie Eugene Whitmire, age 93 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Memorial Park South Chapel. Rev. Chacer Evans will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Whitmire was born February 5, 1931 to the late James Ray & Agnes Lee Waldrip Whitmire in Forsyth County, Georgia. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he went on to retire from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. He owned Bobbie Whitmire Egg Service in Gainesville, Georgia and was one of the early pioneers of stock car racing in Georgia. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Georgia Automobile Hall of Fame Association.

He is survived by his current wife, Darlene Love Whitmire; son with his late first wife (Frances Reynolds), Robert (Budgy) Reynolds; children with his late second wife (Joyce Genene Whitmire), Vincent Eugene Whitmire, Darlene Whitmire Evans Hopkins, James Victor Whitmire, Joyce Eugenia Savage, & Bobby Jo Whitmire; grandchildren, Robert Reynolds, Jr., Catherine Reynolds, Charlie Reynolds, Chacer Evans, Casey Evans, Nick Darracott, Jesse James Darracott, Victoria McCollum, Cooper Whitmire, Jackson Whitmire, & Rose Whitmire; 14 great-grandchildren; & 3 great great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Parks & Evelyn Coleman.

Flowers or donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association or the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Bobbie’s Memory.
