It is with great sadness that the family of Thelma Chastain Goolsby, of Suwanee, announces her passing on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the age of 85 years. She was born on March 6,1939 in Marietta, Georgia to John and Agnes Chastain. She attended Piedmont College, where she obtained an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked as an educator for nearly 30 years, serving most of them at Suwanee Elementary School. Her love for working with children continued well after retirement, serving faithfully in Vacation Bible School and Good News Club. Her greatest passion was serving the Lord in any capacity, and was a devoted member of Shadowbrook Church. She is survived by her 5 children: Carl Goolsby Jr. (Ivy), Gina Goolsby Sorrells (Steve), Jonathan Goolsby (Ellen), Suzanne Goolsby DeWitt (Ashley), and Julie Goolsby Tompkins (Stan); 14 grandchildren: Olivia Goolsby (Scott Becker), Bethany DeWitt Duron (Garret), Alexander Goolsby, Brynn DeWitt Eidson (Samuel), Laura Goolsby Denard (Noah), Savannah Tompkins, David Goolsby, Anna Grace Sorrells, Bella Spencer, Abigail Sorrells, Emma Goolsby, Dakota Tompkins, Ian Spencer, and Gabe Spencer; 4 great-grandchildren: Rennick Duron, Eleanor Becker, Adeline Duron, and Evelyn Becker; and sister Charlene Chastain Henderson (Jerry). She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Chastain, brother, Jerry Chastain, and beloved husband of nearly 58 years, Carl Goolsby, Sr. The family will receive visitors at Shadowbrook Church, Suwanee, Georgia, on Monday, May 13, at 10am with the funeral service following at 1pm. Interment with family to follow at Hunters Creek Baptist Church, Carnesville, Georgia.
