William “Bill” Maurice Marcusson passed away on April 27 at Chelsey
Park in Dahlonega, Ga. He was born to his parents William David Marcusson and Goldie Cohoon Marcusson on May 4, 1925, in New Boston, Missouri. He was preceded by his parents, wife Otea, daughter Sally and sisters Marjorie Nickell and Mary Lou Anderson. He
is survived by daughter Janet Ledford and son-in-law John Ledford. Grandchildren John Poole, William Adam Bradley, and Lindsey Erin Bradley. Step grandchildren John Ledford Jr. (Samantha) and Jessica O’Neil (Brian). Several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews
and one great great granddaughter. His father died in a tractor accident in 1942 leaving Maurice 17 years old the responsibilities of carrying on the family farm. The loss of a husband for his mother and father of the children was a difficult period on the
farm. He married Otea Groce in 1946 and then left the farm in 1947 moving to Kansas City, Mo. Daughters Sally and Janet were born in Kansas City and after being transferred to Chicago completed their education. He started working for the Sinclair Refining
Company in 1947 and retired from the joined companies of Sinclair/Arco in 1982. During the 35 years with those companies he was transferred from Kansas City to Chicago and later to Atlanta, Georgia. While employed at Sinclair he enrolled in college in Kansas
City and later DePaul University in Chicago. Bill was a lifelong member of the Christain Church, Disciple of Christ. He served as an Elder Emeritus on retirement. He joined the Methodist Church in Grayson Georgia at the age of 80 to be with family. Bill was
involved with meals on wheels and the food pantry for several years with both churches. Bill and Otea celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary October 18th, 1996. Otea passed away in 2001 and he moved to Smokey Springs Retirement Community in Gainesville,
Georgia. He will be remembered and missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local food pantry or library. A Memorial Service will be held at 1;30 on May 19th, 2024 at Dahlonega Funeral Home with a reception to follow
