Richard Jackson Williams

Obituary Date: Thursday, April 25, 2024

Richard Jackson Williams, 92, of Clermont, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2024. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. George C. Williams. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet, and daughters Vicki (Jim) Wilhoite and Cindy (Jim) Boff, grandchildren Jay (Hillary) Wilhoite, Peyton Wilhoite and fiancé Lindsay Corn, Emily (Travis) Wedel, Lily (Scott) Stancill, and great-grandchildren Young, South, and Hunter Wilhoite and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Richard graduated from Clermont High School in 1950, and from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Trade and Industry. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was stationed in both Korea and Japan.

Richard retired from Alto Industrial Institute, where he was the welding instructor. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he and Janet were married in 1957. Being mechanically gifted, he enjoyed “fixing the unfixable”.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at W. R. Strickland & Sons Chapel. Reverend Kevin Woody and Reverend John Lee will officiate the service.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  A private interment will be held following the service.  W. R. Strickland & Sons, Clermont, Ga.
