Benny Samuel Martin

Mr. Benny Samuel Martin, 83, of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Hunt will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on December 29, 1940 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Carnell and Desser Samples Martin. He was retired as a self-employed welder. Mr. Martin was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracey Lynn Hollis; grandson, Dalton Lee Martin and brothers, Jimmy Martin, Ralph Martin, Billy Martin.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Brenda Martin of Gainesville; daughters, Janie Heaton of Warrenton, Elizabeth Turpin of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Christy and Danny Underwood of Homer; sons and daughters in law, Donnie Lee and Sherry Martin of Buffalo, NY, Benny Samuel and Janice Martin of Gainesville; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sister, Veda Lynn Dyer; brother, Horace Martin of Gainesville and a number of other loving relatives.
