William Van Dorp

William Van Dorp, 89, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 of natural causes at his residence.

Born August 7, 1934, William was raised in Terra Ceia, North Carolina and had been a resident of Dawson County for over 20 years.  For many years he spent his career in landscaping where he owned and operated Lawn Craft in Kernersville, North Carolina.  William was of Christian faith and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Van Dorp, Siblings, John, Brownie, Lee, Margaret; parents, Hank and Minnie Van Dorp.

Surviving are his children, Rhonda Allen (Rex) of Cumming, Melissa Groome (Fred) of Dawsonville, Craig Van Dorp (Meribeth) of Oak Island, North Carolina; grandchildren, Amber Spry (Jonathan), Christa Townsend, Dustin Townsend (Janen), Zach Groome (Allie), Cody Groome (Kim), Cali Crane (Jared); great-grandchildren, Brayden Spry (Brittany), Brynna Spry, Charlotte Crane, Jack Crane; great-great-grandchildren, Judah Spry; siblings, Dick, Al, Jerry, Willie, Fran; other relatives.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.  Janen Townsend will officiate.
