Dan began his ministry at the age of 19 and was ordained in the Baptist faith on September 3, 1972. He served as a pastor at Bethel Baptist in Tiger, Georgia and Union Baptist in Sautee, Georgia. He was the chaplain at Yonah Mountain Campground in Cleveland for many years. Dan also served as the chairman of the Executive and Financial Committees of the White County Baptist Association. His favorite verses were in Psalm 1, and over the years his dedication to his faith and the truth of the Gospel inspired many.
He was a dedicated educator who believed in the potential of all students and enthusiastically shared his love of history. Dan spent most of his time teaching at South Habersham Middle School, first teaching Georgia History, then Career Education and at-risk students before returning to his favorite subject at the end of his career.
He married his soulmate Nancy on June 7, 1974. They dedicated their life together to serving as teachers in their schools and the churches they attended. Dan and Nancy would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Dan loved his family, teaching, and above all, his Lord and Savior. The family would like to thank NGMC Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251. W. R.
