It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Brenda “Darlene” Bonds, who passed away on April 23, 2024 at the age of 77. She is survived by her children,
Kristi (Simon) Janman, Jason (Nikki) Bonds, grandchildren, Emily and Gracie McMillan, Laurel (Jacob) Phillips, Chloe and Harrison Bonds, great grandson Easton Phillips, Nephew Barry
(Stephanie) Lockridge, Niece Michelle (Alan) Daves and her faithful companion, her dog Baker. She is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow “Woody” and Lorene Brock, grandparents
Berry Van and Katherine Brock and Carl and Irene Everhart, and her sister, Priscilla Brock.
Darlene was born on September 20th,1946 in Gadsden, Alabama. Once married, she moved to Rome, Georgia where her two children were born, then on to the metro-Atlanta area, most
recently residing in Sugar Hill. Darlene retired in 2014 from a prominent Atlanta law firm, after a rewarding career of over 45 years as a dedicated legal secretary. She was most fulfilled living a
life devoted to raising her children, loving on her grandchildren, and most recently enjoying her first great-grandchild.
Darlene was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her
infectious smile and warm personality. Saying that she was an animal lover is an incredible understatement. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards, lunches with
her friends and watching her beloved Atlanta Braves. Rest in peace, Mom and Grandi. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 2:30pm, in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, Georgia. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00-2:20pm. A private graveside service will follow. Flowers are welcome, but if you prefer, a donation can be made to the Atlanta Humane Society.
“Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’” (John 11:25-26)
