Joan Marie Metzel

Joan Marie Metzel, nee Gaba, of Flowery Branch, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024.

Joan was born on July 19, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to the late William and Ann Gaba. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Leonard W. Metzel.  She was and Adoring mother to Kathy (Dave) Stringer and Lori (Chris) Vincenzo; Cherished grandmother of Kaitlin (Brandon) Tewksbury, Alissa (Lucian) Fox, Annmarie (Chris) Vincenzo, Rachel (Drew) Vincenzo, and Zack Vincenzo; Precious great grandma to Cooper and Riley Tewksbury; and a dear friend to many.

Joan was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School. A consummate social butterfly, many enjoyed meals and fun at her numerous parties. Later in life she retired to Flowery Branch, Georgia with her husband. Joan loved her family to her fullest and was most happy when they filled her house with love and laughter. She will be missed dearly.

A Memorial Service will be offered on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home in Flowery Branch, Georgia at 10:00 a.m. Deacon Bill Donohue will officiate. Family will receive friends immediately following the service. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois
