Blonnie Clyde Grizzle Summerour, fondly known as "Nana," passed away on April 21, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unyielding strength. Born on March 22, 1937, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to the late Duffy and Elsie Grizzle, Blonnie's life was a testament to resilience, humor, and unwavering devotion to family.
Blonnie embodied the spirit of a true mountain girl, characterized by her indomitable grit and fierce loyalty. She was a force to be reckoned with, ready to defend and protect those she held dear with unmatched determination. Yet, beneath her tough exterior, beat a heart of gold, overflowing with love and kindness.
Known for her infectious laughter and quick wit, Blonnie had a knack for lighting up any room she entered. Her demeanor and warm personality lifted the spirits of countless people, and it was rare to find a gathering where she didn't leave a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Family was the cornerstone of Blonnie's life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she played an integral role in shaping the lives of her children and grandchildren, imparting wisdom, guidance, and affection.
Blonnie's faith was unwavering, and she found strength in her relationship with God as an active member of Salem Baptist Church. Her devout spirituality was a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her, reflecting her steadfast devotion to her beliefs.
In addition to her parents, Blonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Summerour, her daughter Angela Lynn Summerour, and her siblings Fred, LD, Maxie, Judd, Gwen, Clyde, Ostena, and Dennie.
She is survived by her daughter Tamela E. Summerour of Jasper; grandchildren Tabitha (Daniel) Sparks of Dahlonega, Meagan (Josh) Reyes of Ball Ground, Jonathon "Kas" Matos of Charlotte, NC, and Alexa (Daniel) Beck of Clover, SC; great-grandchildren Haley Sparks, Tia Sparks, Ilah Reyes, and Ezra Beck; sister Mae Lee of Murrayville, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
Funeral services to honor Blonnie's life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Daniel Sparks and Rev. Lyman Caldwell, with interment following at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell, with The Rev. Roger Stover officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
