William Daniel “Dan” Reed, 91, of Buford, GA, died Friday, April 19, 2024. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Stephen Fountain, Rev. Jon Reed and Rev. Josh Reed will officiate. Interment will follow at Historic Friendship Cemetery, Buford. The family will receive friends Monday, April 22, 2024, from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Dan is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Linda Beacham Reed of Buford; son, Scott Reed (Silvia) of Gainesville; daughter, Danalyn Reckner (Bill) of Hoschton; grandchildren, Beth Reed of Lawrenceville, Tiffany Reed of Pensacola, FL, Fernando Castillo of Gainesville, Derek Beacham (Crystal) of Statham; great grandchildren, Rhiannon, Declan, Levi, Angel, Jade; brothers, Garrett Reed of Buford, Stanley Reed (Sandra) of Buford; brother-in-law, Darroll Freeman of Cedartown; sister-in-law, Sheila Reed of Buford; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and many friends. Special thanks to the caregivers of Open Arms and Loving Hands Private Home Care who cared for him since December. Dan was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Larry Beacham; parents, W.E. and Mollie Garrett Reed; sister, Virginia Freeman; brother, James Reed; sister-in-law, Reba Reed; mother in- law and father in-law, Agnes and Virgil Beacham.
Dan was born in Buford, GA and was a lifelong resident of Buford and the Friendship Community. He was a 1950 graduate of Buford High School and was a member of First Baptist Church Buford. Dan retired from Mason Dixon Truck Lines and worked for 38 years with his brothers at Reed’s Building Supply. Dan enjoyed watching sports, especially the Braves, GA Tech football and his Buford Wolves. Dan and his humor and wit among family and friends will be missed so much.
