Peter Knapp Adgate, 73, of Lumpkin County went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 7, 1951, Pete grew up in Ohio before living in California and finally settling in Georgia. He had been a resident of Lumpkin County since 2022 and had previously resided in Jonesboro. He loved his family, his faith, and his bluegrass music. Pete was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dawsonville and was a talented musician who enjoyed playing his mandolin and guitar. A proud graduate of The Ohio State University, Pete was a passionate fan of college sports, “Go Buckeyes!”. He spent his career as a computer programmer with Delta Airlines until his retirement in 2016 and had enjoyed travelling the world alongside his beloved wife.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Nancy Elizabeth Adgate of Lumpkin County; children, Emily and Matt Langford of Sandy Springs, Andrew and Jade Adgate of Nashville, TN, William Adgate and Sarah Nix of Marshall, NC; grandchildren, Dean, Anna, Mia Hope, Violet, Flynn, Isaac; mother, Margaret “Peg” Adgate of LaHabra, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Neil Cooper of Irvine California; other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Chuck” Adgate.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. Dr. Dustin Gillespie will officiate.
The family will receive friends following the service.
