Philip Arthur Lunceford, age 72, of Dawsonville, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
Phil was born on November 27, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Donald H. Lunceford, Sr. and Gwendolyn Jackson Lunceford. He was the first deaf student to attend and graduate from the Atlanta Area Technical School, this led the way for many more deaf students to attend. Phil was a member and an usher at Cornerstone Baptist Church. He retired from Clayton State College where he worked in maintenance. In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffery Byron Lunceford.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Lunceford; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna Lynne and Craig Stephen Whitfield, Ginger and Charles Kovach, and Sarah Rozanne and Joseph McCarney; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Donald Lunceford, Jr. and Laurie Lunceford; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Lunceford, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Thursday prior to the service, at the funeral home.
